  • A note from the editor
    MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Christmas will be spent with my family and friends. A joyful time for me like I hope it will be for you too. To celebrate and to make up for the dark and long nights we tend to decorate our houses with lots and lots of colorful lights and enjoy the presence of the many Yule lads we have bringing us presents and stuff!

Today is the shortest day of the year and here in Reykjavik it lasted for just over 4 hours! That means all coming days will be a little bit longer.

Project Sport Track really started around Thanksgiving when I went for a trip to drive it all the way from Colorado to Virginia. It will be on board the ship to Iceland at Christmas Eve. Getting the Sport Track ready for serious off-roading will be a major project and as far as I know it will be the first 38 inch modified Sport Track. (If you know about another one I would sure like to know).

I started the 4x4OffRoads.com web about a year ago and looking back I can see it has come a long way. The newsletter has proven popular and visitors to the site are in the thousands each month. I am getting positive feedback and visitors from all over the world. December has seen visitors from the following countries: United States, Iceland, Canada, Australia, Norway, Germany, Portugal, Belgium, Finland, Italy, United Kingdom, Greece, Denmark, Romania, Mexico, Russian Federation, New Zealand (Aotearoa), Netherlands, Morocco, France, Brazil, Slovak Republic and Austria.

Next year will be even better - just wait and see!

Our affiliates at SiteSell are making a special offer that will only last until midnight 25th of December.

If you have any thoughts of starting your own web site - NOW would be an excellent time. The price is usually $400 for each site - but during this special promotion you get TWO sites for that same price.

  • 4x4 On Road in USA
When I planned the trip to get the Sport Track I had no idea that I would get to experience Thanksgiving in the United States. But that is just what happened!

Can I compare Iceland to USA? For one thing USA really is a BIG country. I could drive about 1000 km a day for three days all in the same direction. In just two days it would be possible to drive all around Iceland, even with the lower quality roads we have.

Off roading in each country is also different. In USA you have tracks in woodlands with mud and trees close by as well as rocks and gravel tracks. In Iceland we have glacier rivers that can be tricky to cross and driving on snow and ice is almost unique to us.

I will visit again soon and get to know 4 wheeling USA style first hand!
