HAPPY EASTER! Winter is almost over now here in Iceland. Snow has gone and temperature went up to 13°C today with some fresh wind coming in from the sea. A plan for my Explorer Sport Trac is forming. I will be getting Dana 44 whole axle to put in front and air-spring suspension in the rear. With 4.88 ratios and ARB lockers front and rear it should prove quite capable. The front axle is now ready except for the rubber for the suspension system and the brake disk system I will use. I hope that the resulting rig will be extremely capable for the kind of wheeling we do here. As you can imagine driving on slippery surfaces like ICE can be dangerous and a short story about one incident where luck played a big part is up. - On slippery slope. Even though my Sport Trac is coming around slowly I have been lucky enough to take part in a few great trips. On a more personal note I was so proud of my son Gudni Thor the other day. A mathematics competition was held where kids from all the elementary schools in our neighborhood took part and he won first place! Forum for 4x4s Project Sport Trac eBook about 4 wheeling Let me know what your biggest wish is by taking part in the SURVEY. A preparation and overview trip had been set for the weekend. The plan is to drive over Hofsjokull ice-cap the same route that would be used in two weeks time. However, for this trip, Birgir offered me a ride in his Land Cruiser 90. Although it was on short notice this was an opportunity I couldn't resist. Here is the full story with pictures. A big trip with 150 trucks was on schedule by the Icelandic 4x4 club
in the first weekend of March. My plan was on getting my truck ready for
it, but I was a bit too optimistic.
