1982 Ford Bronco

1982 Ford Bronco

I have a 1982 Ford Bronco.

Tell us about yourself and your love of 4x4 and off roading

I'm a 31 year-old Bozeman, MT native. My first vehicle was a '67 International Scout Travelall. Ever since I've had a drivers license I've been into 4x4. I'm a member of the Bozeman Mountaineers 4x4 Club. In addition to trail rides we also put on a mud bog, top truck competition, truck pull, and trail competition each year. You can find out more about the Bozeman Mountaineers at http://bozemanmountaineers.org

What modifications have you done for your 4x4 and what are your future plans?

1.5" Rough Country Springs in the front and 2" blocks in the back. Cut front fenders for tire clearance. Had a set of 33x12.50x15 Pro Comps donated to me to put under it. Otherwise, it is a bone stock Bronco with a 300-6 and a 4-speed.

What is most challenging when lifting your 4x4 truck?

None for me. I did a trade for the lift kit. My friends at Mike's Off Road in Bozeman, MT installed the lift for me.

Where do you go wheeling and what is the terrain like?

Bridger, Spanish Peaks, and Crazy Mountain Ranges in Montana. The terrain varies quite a bit from place to place, which is great because you get a lot of variety. In and around Bozeman you can find everything from trails you can take your daily driver on to some serious 4x4 trails. We pretty much have it all including rock crawl, mud, and snow.

Other info you would like to share

I only paid $350 for the Bronco. Overall, it has less than $1,000 into it, but hasn't had any problems keeping up with other rigs on the trail.

The Bronco has a 300-6 sitting in front of a T-18N 4-speed tranny with granny first and a NP208 transfer case with low as well. Although it doesn't make a ton of horsepower it has plenty of torque and gearing to get around.
