After arrival in Hirtshals and a little roadtrip south, we shopped some food and take the beach way to our nice apartment at Gronhoj strand apartments.

After some hours driving on the beach, just for fun and some taco
for dinner, we take another trip to the beach, this time late at
night. Driving in darkness is really exiting, this year it was very
little snow, but we decided to test a little sliding hooked up to
one of our 4x4 since it was too little snow to skiing.

Saturday 4/3-11
This year there where 205 vehicles on the beach.
Here we have small competitions like GPS challenge, catch the boot
and hit the tiles.

We were 6 people in 2 cars who drove along, one 1965 Volvo L3314N
with 35" MTR, LSD front and rear + original PTO winch.
And a 1985-92 Toyota Land Cruiser with 33" MTRs, intercooled 2,4 TD
and original LSD rear. Yes you read that right, 1985-92, most of it
is probably from 85 while the engine is a 92.
Both cars did very well on the beach, although the Land Cruiser
managed to get stuck on flat ground, 2wd and soft sand…

Denmark has this supercool long beach where you can drive for hours,
with some river crossings.
We drove out from Lokken and south, after running a while we come to this sign:

And this is the next exit off the beach!
There are many old bunkers just north of Lokken, which interests to
get along on the trip.
They use to stay at top of the dunes, the sea has washed out the
sand over many years and these are now down on the beach.

That the sea washes the sand is a major problem in Denmark, it is
also why it is strictly forbidden to drive in the dunes.
You see in front of this building, here they have stacked massive
concrete elements, so the ocean does not turn against the slope.

But it is in the rivers, here it is (almost) free to go and it’s
where the fun begins.

Our vehicles weren't in the deepest part because we need to use our cars back to Norway.

This year it was a lot of cool, interesting vehicles.
Here is two of them.

The smallest

The biggest.
It was, true to tradition, served lunch on the beach. This year,
famous, Danish, red hotdogs.
It was time for some minor repairs also, a screeching fan belt was
fixed with a wisegrip and real gaffa tape.
As usual, pop the hood and you’re not alone.

After a day of fun in the sand (You know kids, sand and water.),
it's time for dinner, this year like last year at ActionHouse
Lokken.
My Volvo L3314 is a six seater so that worked out perfectly as A
offroad taxi, we have 6km from our apartment to offroad dinner.
This year organizers had arranged a great deal with the taxi in
Lokken. 20DKR per person one way in downtown locations!
Actionhouse! This building has it all, nice dinner, disco, bowling,
go carting, paintball and a lot of old computer games like nascar,
atv and Sega rally.
In other words, a big party! I was the driver, but pepsi is also
good.
So what can I say?
Thank you Lokken for an incredible weekend!
Or as a former Governor of California would say it: "I'll be back!".
PS. Please take a look at my friend's Beachtour 2010 video at
youtube.
Best regards.

I really enjoy seeing real 4WD
vehicles in real situations where they are needed. There
are so many highway bound posers that never go off the
pavement here that seeing life or death 4 wheeling in
Iceland is really refreshing.
