The end of the year is always an opportunity for new and exciting off road tracks in the snow. But unlike most off roaders, some clubs think of more than their own pleasure when going out. This was the case of Club 4x4 Romania which decided to deliver aids and gifts to 50 families in need, just before Christmas.

Their action concentrated on an area in the southern part of the Carpathian Mountains of Romania, an area of mineral baths and recovery and relaxation centers. Among the other wonders of the region is the Salt Mountain, unique in the world, as well as large and extremely beautiful salt mines.

At this year’s event, 17 cars and 35 club members partook to make December a better time of the year for those in need. Worth mentioning here, among other 4x4 rigs was the Frontier Police truck, Iveco Massif, fully equipped for all off road situations – BFGoodrich Mud Terrain KM2 TA and a powerful winch on a sturdy front bumper. All you need for a successful trip anywhere… A beautiful addition to an already impressive off road convoy.

Mainly, the families that were targeted could do with just about anything. Because of the jobs in some villages, most households have both parents unemployed and living from day to day sometimes in precariously built homes. Bags of rations, including sugar, oil, flour, canned foods and so on, were sorted so that everyone received an equal amount of help.

4x4 Buyers Guide

Amongst the club members, old toys were collected for needy children in the area, as well as donations for the Christmas shopping list. At the end of the planning stage of the event, 90 gift packages were collected for the children of a local Traditional Dance Center, 60 more packages for children, between 2 and 12 for children from the area as well as 50 rations of food and supplies for poor families around the designated area, as recommended by the local mayor.

Mugur Nicolae, president of the off road club declared,
exclusively for 4x4OffRoads:
“I am very glad to see that our
members and fans are actively thinking about the good of the
community and that we managed to put our hobby to good use. In this
way we managed to offer assistance to people in areas where only
four wheel drive cars could get. This is already our fourth year of
humanitarian actions such as this one and I am happy to announce
it’s become a tradition”

With a great day out and gifts
spread throughout the area, the Club 4x4 Romania team managed to
bring the Christmas spirit into the homes of those who were in need
of a little humanity. Well done off roaders!

I really enjoy seeing real 4WD
vehicles in real situations where they are needed. There
are so many highway bound posers that never go off the
pavement here that seeing life or death 4 wheeling in
Iceland is really refreshing.
