Another Yooper field tested on the spot repair!
SO, NOW THAT YOU HAVE "SWAMPED HER ABOVE THE INTAKES" .....
Here is what I PACK ALONG to make it look like "THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME IF YOUR A SERIOUS OFF ROADER" and reclaim your dignity after having the "Coast Guard" pull your rig out of "That Loon-shit Hole didn't look THAT DEEP!"....
Spare: Air Cleaner-Fuel Filters-Oil Filter-5 quarts Oil-
&Filter Wrench
A Empty Box Knocked down(I use a "Lienie's Beer Case")-
2 Tall Kitchen Plastic Garbage bags with twist ties.
I store the filters in "Zip-lock" bags with the 5 quarts Oil in the engine compartment. The Beer Case is KD Flat with the 2 garbage bags
tucked inside under my other road gear in the back of my Zook.
Use the basics:
** get the"Loon-shit Black Water" out of your Air Cleaner, Air Box, and plan on changing your fuel filter (why I pack a couple spares along).
** Pull your spark plugs and spin your engine over to blow out the cylinders (If a Diesel, and you have a compression release, use it to clear the cylinders). Let air out as you are completing next step...
** You are probably going to have contaminated oil in the pan!!
**MAKING A FIELD USE DRAIN PAN...Change your Oil & Filter!
Fold lock the bottom of your box together (Duck Tape if you have it).
Double Bag the 2 garbage bags together and put inside beer case leaving the extra folded over the sides.
**Drain Oil using field made drain pan. When Done, pull sides up "GOOSE NECK" and tie off with twist-ties or Duck Tape.
NOW TAKE THE DRAINED OIL WITH YOU!!!
DON'T LEAVE IT BEHIND!! DON'T RUIN TRAIL USE FOR THE REST OF US!!
The double plastic bags will hold it until you can dispose of it at a gas station etc.
Just Here to HELP YA OUT! Dat Displaced Yooper, CAPT
I really enjoy seeing real 4WD
vehicles in real situations where they are needed. There
are so many highway bound posers that never go off the
pavement here that seeing life or death 4 wheeling in
Iceland is really refreshing.
