In this video I will show you some stuff from from the Formula Offroad event in Vestmannaeyjar - West Man Islands just south of Iceland. The area is different from most other places because it had a volcanic eruption in 1973. The competition takes place in the slopes of the new volcano.
The volcanic ash is extremely difficult to drive in, since it is very light and very loose.
I will let you enjoy the sound of the engines and only throw in a word or two.
The winner of the day in the Unlimited Class. A former chamption in the sport, Árni Kópsson hasn't been driving Formula Offroad for the last 20 years. Today he is teaching "the newcomers" how to do it.
Second place winner Eyjólfur Skúlason in the unlimited class with some nice view.
It is very easy to get stuck in the ash and even catch fire.
