Building The Suspension
I love to build and modify things so when I decided I/we needed something to go 4wheelin with, I wanted to be able to take to kid's along so I decided to build me a mini van. I got a 91 Plymouth Voyager for $200.00 and sold the engine for $800.00. then I did several odd jobs to acquire the suspension and power plant that I wanted, I used the axles from a 78 Chevy K-5 Blazer, the front springs are from an 88 Chevy Suburban, the transmission and transfer case are from a Dodge pick-up (I got them free, but had to rebuild them), the 440 came from a 1977 class A motorhome (had to wire a small repair shop for).
I decided I wanted to try and use the vans fuel injection, so I modified a manifold I got from E-bay and bought the fuel rails and throttle parts from E-bay also. The project will hopefully be done this summer. I will send updates as we get more done.
I really enjoy seeing real 4WD
vehicles in real situations where they are needed. There
are so many highway bound posers that never go off the
pavement here that seeing life or death 4 wheeling in
Iceland is really refreshing.
