Snowmobile Track

Can you imagine riding a powerful snowmobile?

Well – after today’s ride I got a great feeling for it! My friend Ragnar Robertsson just bought a 800 cc Lynx Rave RC snowmobile. Of course he needed a to take it out for a spin.

First task is to find snow. We drove up to the Skalafell skiing area and although the lifts are closed, we found enough especially as we ascend the mountain.

With about 150 hp the snowmobile is extremely capable.

On the top of the mountain is this TV redistribution mast all covered with ice and the view is amazing.

We find a small valley and Ragnar shows what the snowmobile can do.

Its a little hard to realize how steep this slope is – you would have to see it with your own eyes. Going down is a bit scary…

…but coming up with full force is a real BLAST!

This would NOT be a good place to stop.

Of course I got my share of driving the snowmobile. Giving it a little gas and I have to hold on with all my strength.

Making jumps takes some practice and moments after this one I sit on my butt on the snow.

If you look closely you can see a line between my overcoat and the ignition switch. As soon as I fall off the key is out and the snowmobile stops – conveniently not running off.
