In 1993, I purchased a 1985 Toyota HiLux, 4x4, SR-5 truck and began modifying it to my liking, after a few thousand dollars I had my dream truck, 6in lift, detroit lockers front and rear, 5.71:1 gears, Marlin Crawler 4:1 T-case, 38 inch tires and A/C. Well in 1999, I was in a motorcycle accident and decided to sell my toy to pay for medical bills and such. Since then, I have owned several Chevy's a couple Jeep XJ's and a few Isuzu Troopers.
Well, In October of 2007 I sold my 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500HD and bought a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser.
I have been completely impressed with this little vehicle ever since I took it on the test drive. I now have a little over 27,000 miles on the odometer and still haven't had a single issue with it.
The day after I bought it, I took it out to WINDROCK, here in East Tennessee and put it through it's paces. The little FJ is unstoppable for the most part, it's only short coming is the crappy BFG Trail T/A's THEY SUCK. But they will be replaced shortly with a little more aggressive tires and a lift kit. I am leaning towards the Nitto's and a set of 18 inch wheels.......
My truck has the following options:
Dealer installed TRD Package (TRD 16in wheels, TRD catback, etc)
Back-up camera and rearview mirror/monitor.
6 speed transmission
E-locker
A-TRAC
FJammer with Subwoofer
DVD Player/Game Station with wireless headsets (I have a 5 year old son-this is for him)
Garmin GPS system (roads only-looking for an offroad type GPS)
Dash mounted information system(compass, inclometer and Temp)
If you ever wanted a really capable truck this is the one for you!
I really enjoy seeing real 4WD
vehicles in real situations where they are needed. There
are so many highway bound posers that never go off the
pavement here that seeing life or death 4 wheeling in
Iceland is really refreshing.
