Icelandic fender flare making has evolved around the need for bigger fender flares for the variety of 4x4 trucks that are in use here. The fender flares are made of fiber glass. Companies having experience in fiber glass boat building, Jacuzzi making as well as custom auto parts like high roofs for vans etc. started making fender flare on the side over 20 years ago.
The Icelandic fender flare manufacturers have web sites mostly in Icelandic but have lots of pictures (look for the text "myndir") and you can usually contact them in English with questions and ordering.
