With 350 LT1 and 44 inch tires

Sigurbjörn Vopni is the owner of the winning 4x4 truck in the "4x4 Truck of the Month" competition. Since he lives here in Iceland I used the opportunity to give him a visit and check out the truck, give him the Veho Muvi action camera prize and share it all with you 🙂

!

I have a Toyota Hilux 1991.

Tell us about yourself and your love of 4x4 and off roading

I got my first 38" modified jeep when I was 18 years old. It vas a Hilux SR-5 22RE. Since then I've had 4-Runner, Jeep XJ series, Toyota X-tra cab, Nissan Patroll Y61 and the most recent Hilux. These cars where modified from 36" to 44". I've always been hoocked on this sport and through my work with the ICE-SAR (Iceland search and rescue) I got to know the highlands and the glaciers.

What modifications have you done for your 4x4 and what are your future plans?

I got it this summer and all modifications had been done before. But it is a 1991 Hilux DC with an X-tra cab rear end, 350 LT1 sbc engine, 4L60 transmission, extra low gear built from Hilux transfer case, LC 60 full floating rear axle, Hilux front axle, both axles with electric diff locks, 3 link suspension in the rear, 100mm body lift, 44" tires, 130l fuel tank and many other minor modifications.

What is most challenging when lifting your 4x4 truck?

It is very different between cars.

Where do you go wheeling and what is the terrain like?

My favorite place is Kjölur, in the middle of Iceland between the Langjökull glacier and Hofsjökull glacier.
