Formula Off Road World Cup starts of close to the small town of Hella in the south part of Iceland. This is the first of two competitions in two days of the World Cup. The second day will also serve as the Icelandic Championship.
Competitors from five countries have entered. They come from Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland and even one all the way from Turkey!With the day starting out with wind and heavy rain it gets slightly better during the competition.

Gunnar Mar seems to take this literally! In the very first track transmission fluid leak catches fire and he has to stop and have the assistants turn it out. All the time he sits calmly in the 4x4. He is not able to continue the race for the rest of the day.
Roar Johansen in the Thunderbolt shows some excellent driving especially in the first track.
Siggi in the Troll did even better but was not among the top players.

Kjetil Håkonsen in Sandy catches second place in the Modified Street Class.

Finn Erik Loberg in RaceRunner shows more than Icelanders can compete in this sport. He comes in fourth in the Unlimited Class. Best result for the foreigners today.

Ole Graverse in the Eagle did ok for the first 3 tracks but has some problems in the 4th and the last for him for the day.
Arne Johannesen in Lightfoot shows some excellent stunts.

Olafur in The Fox is competing among the top players and finishes third in the Unlimited Class and forth Overall.
Gunnar in The Clown is the clear winner of the day. He gets first place in the Unlimited Class as well as the Overall.

Leo in the Iron Maiden...

...has some problems with a blown tire in the first track.
Vural Ak in the 4x4.is Willys. He comes from Turkey and is driving a restored vehicle owned by Ragnar on the Pizza 67 Willys. He is one of the best off road drivers in Turkey and has competed in the Dakar rally. This is the first time he has set hands on a Formula Off Road vehicle.

Gunnar Asgeirsson in The Good Year Eagle.
Magnus in Willys '48 should have done a lot better. This is the only 6 cylinder engine but is tuned up to 600 hp plus nitro.

Bjarki in The Animal.
Gisli in The Steroid starts his season by giving it all he can. Rolling over in the end gate of the first track after this impressive flight demonstration.
Daniel in the Green Thunder rolling over backwards in the third track.
Gudlaugur in Magic Yellow is only around 20 years old and a beginner in the sport.
Gunnar in The Clown finishing off the difficult 4th track.
Arne Johannesen in Lightfoot is about to roll over in the 4th track.
Miikka Kaskinen in Big-Willys does the same.
Ragnar in his Pizza 67 Willys manages to complete this flight tour without landing on the top. He finishes of first in Modified Street Class and third Overall.

I really enjoy seeing real 4WD
vehicles in real situations where they are needed. There
are so many highway bound posers that never go off the
pavement here that seeing life or death 4 wheeling in
Iceland is really refreshing.

The whole 4x4 thing is new to me so i have a lot
to catch up on, i am going to get involved in a 4x4 club here in
Varna as there are vast amounts of tracks and mountains to explore
the news letter is boss:) and i especially like to look at readers
rigs

Not all people know how to go offroad,prepare
vehicles to go offroad, or know how to get themselfs prepared to go
offroad. this website is a wonderful way for people to learn how.I
even learn some new tricks.thanks
