Get on road #1 north from Reykjavik (direction Akureyri). Drive through Mosfellsbaer and make the first turn right after you get past the ocean side part of the road. Look for road sign "Skriða".
Get on road #1 north from Reykjavik (direction Akureyri). Drive for about 2 1/2 - 3 hours until you see the town of Blönduós. Make a right turn at the roundabout to the south east on road #731 "Svínvetningabraut". The area is on the right about 500 meters from the roundabout.
From the church in central Akureyri take the road up the slope and continue until you find a road #837 "Hlíðarfjallsvegur" to the left. You will see the gatekeepers and parking area on the left.
When you are in the center of the town Egilsstaðir you take the road east "Fagradalsbraut". Make a left turn on "Seyðisfjarðarvegur" and continue north. Beware that the road name changes to #94 "Borgarfjarðarvegur". Continue until you see a sign for "TORFÆRA".
Take road #1 east to the town of Hella. Continue 2 km east and turn left on #264 "Rangárvallavegur". The area is about 1 km north to the right.

I really enjoy seeing real 4WD
vehicles in real situations where they are needed. There
are so many highway bound posers that never go off the
pavement here that seeing life or death 4 wheeling in
Iceland is really refreshing.
