Here are some pictures from my good friend Einar Kjartansson. They are from various journeys around Iceland in the wintertime.

 

This is Einar in his Cherokee '95 preparing to cross a river. The banks are about a meter high and the water is perhaps 30 cm deep.

Two ready and able trucks. A Toyota Land Cruiser and a Nissan Patrol. Both sporting 38" tires.

Here the course is taken to Langjökull (Long Glacier).

Einar preparing the high-lift jack to get out of a stuck. The Cherokee has air-springs in the rear and 36" Mudder tires.

Helpfulness is customary in 4x4 travels in Iceland. Here a Toyota 4Runner is pulling a Nissan Patrol from a stuck, close to Hrafntinnusker.

Birgir's Toyota Land Cruiser broke an axle and was fixed in less than half an hour!

This picture shows how the hut at Grimsfjall in Vatnajökull gathers ice and snow from the high storms.

The natural spring water pool at Landmannalaugar is a good resting place after a long journey.
