12 Off Road Jeep Mods

12 Off Road Jeep Mods

In this article, I’m going to talk about off-road Jeep mods that you should do before hitting difficult trails. I’m also going to talk about mods that are great for a daily driver that hits a few light trails.
Don't feel that you should implement all these mods at once. You can do one at a time, go test it, then start your next modification when you're ready. It may seem overwhelming, but if you take your time and do one mod at a time it’s not that bad. And if you get stuck, just send us an email to info@getliftkits.com.

Let’s dive in!

Recovery Gear

From our experience with off-roading, I quickly realized that recovery and safety are the most important things to consider. If you’re going to go play in the mud or on the trails, there is a strong chance you will get stuck at some point, so finding the best ride is necessary and possible with the car dealership near corpus christi.

It’s always better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it, as the saying goes. In addition to having the right winch, I recommend spending a little extra on a quality strap or a good recovery rope that can be used to pull you or someone else out.

A winch is something you will need when you're hitting technical trails. They're not just for recoveries, they're for safety as well. A winch can save you from a rollover when things get dicey on a steep hill. And they're great to have for those times when your rig just can't make it over an obstacle.
There are a lot of different makes and models of winches on the market, so pick something in your budget, and make sure it can handle the weight you're intending to use it for. You’re also going to need a mount or a steel bumper to mount it to as well.

When it comes to wire/rope, some guys swear by synthetic rope and others on rope wire. Rope wire can snap and recoil when pulled past its limit, it can also fray and rip your hands when guiding it. Synthetic rope wears out faster when it's rubbed on rocks or rough ground. I suggest reading up on the good and bad of each before making a decision.

Body Armor

I always say “Build it strong enough to handle what you are throwing at!” before hitting difficult trails. Nobody likes getting home and seeing body damage that could have been avoided by buying some premium ice scratchers accessories here. So, you are going to need some armour in the form of heavy-duty bumpers, rock sliders, skid plates, and diff covers.

Steel Front bumpers offer much more strength than the factory plastic bumper and have a winch mount and two recovery points. The custom front bumper will improve the approach angle because the bumper is higher allowing tires to climb taller obstacles. Don’t cheese out on the bumpers. Buy from a good quality brand because honestly, your Jeep is worth it.

Steel Rear bumpers can be added after the front bumper. Unless you’re hitting difficult trails, you can get away with just using the hitch as a recovery point. But there is a limit where you will need to upgrade to a solid steel bumper with two recovery points.

Rear bumpers protect the body when accidentally backing into a boulder or a tree or landing on a rock. They also give your rig a much more appealing appearance. There are several styles and many brands to choose from including Smittybilt, American Trail Products or Fishbone Offroad to mention a few.

Rock sliders are super important to have before hitting boulder-strewn trails because you know you’re going to end up hurting your Jeep without them.

I recommend a rock slider that sticks out at least a few inches past the rocker panel. A lot of guys like to add a kick out that protrudes out as far as the rear tire, to help push the rig sideways when passing obstacles that might catch the rear tire.

Don’t go cheap on sliders either. You want steel, not little plastic steps. Sliders and bumpers are also necessary if you intend to use a high lift jack.

Skid plates are metal sheeting that’s thick enough to withstand hitting rocks. They're used to protect the undercarriage of your Jeep, especially the oil pan, t-case and gas tank. You don't absolutely need this protection unless you're hitting some gnarly trails with giant rocks.

Differential covers are just beefier covers for your diffs. They add extra strength for when you hit rocks with your diffs. Sometimes it's unavoidable or you just didn't notice it coming. Either way it happens. Losing you gear oil on the trail just isn't cool by any means.

Tires

There’s so much to cover on tires I’ll need to write another article, but I’m cover the most important aspects here.

When it comes to Jeep tires, it all depends on what you want to accomplish.

If you spend more time on pavement and only hit some mild trails once or twice in the summer, you won’t need a super aggressive tread. Maybe get an all-terrain or something that doesn’t wear out too fast. Some tires stick to rocks like glue but wear out 3x faster on pavement.

You'll want to take into consideration what terrain you’re going to be riding on most of the time. If you’re in the sand a lot, try an all-terrain tire. If you’re in the mud most of the time, a mud bogger might suit you well. If you’re hitting a lot of rocks, mud boggers tend to slide sideways because the tread pattern is straight across, so you could go with a super swamper for a mixture of rocks and mud.

There’s a lot to consider and you really need to take your time when choosing a tire.

Size matters when it comes to tires and bigger is not always better. If you only hit mild trails, you don’t need 40s, maybe a 33 will work for you. The bigger you go, the more parts you'll need to upgrade to handle them. Most axles can handle 33s, but any bigger and you risk snapping axles and spinning pinions.

Not to mention the steering upgrades you’ll need especially if you choose a wide tire like a 15.50. Even 12.50s will require steering upgrades, or you risk bending and snapping things. I've seen steering boxes rip off the frame with improperly sized tires.

You’ll also want to consider the weight limit and durability. If you’re going to be in the rocks a lot, you’ll want a tire that can handle the sidewall abuse.

Wheels

Wheels are also something to consider as you start thinking about tires. If you’re keeping it mild then a simple steel wheel will be perfect, they’re strong and look great with an aggressive tire on them.
If you’re going to be hitting some rocks and mud, you probably want to look at bead locks. Bead locks bolt on to the rim, holding the rubber in place and allowing you to air down even more without breaking a bead; as a result, they achieve more traction and a smoother ride over rough terrain.
You want to pay attention to backspacing. It will make your tires stick out further, which offers more clearance for steering and a wider stance. This will lower your centre of gravity, giving you less chance of rolling over.

Lift Kits

Now you have an idea of the size of tire you want, you need to figure out what size of lift you’ll need to fit those tires on without rubbing. Like the tires, size matters when picking a lift kit. If you go too big, you’re going to run into problems like handling on- and off-road, and the higher you go the easier it is to roll because the centre of gravity is higher.

Rule of thumb is to only lift as much as you need to fit your tires. Trimming and high clearance fenders will help the tires fit, limiting the amount of lift needed to clear the tires.

Let’s take a look at a JK for example. Its 2.5 inches of lift is good for 35s, 3.5 inches of lift for 37s, 4.5 inches of lift for 40s. So, take your time and research what your model needs when choosing tire and lift size.

There are several lift kit styles to choose from and have a wide range of prices. Generally, the bigger you go the pricier they are. If you only want a 2-inch levelling kit, it’s not going to help much for off-roading. Levelling kits are more for clearing larger tires on your daily driver.

If you’re looking for something that will make your rig more capable off-road, you want a kit that comes with springs, shocks, sway bar disconnects, trackbar and mounting brackets, adjustable control arms, preferably long arms if your kit is over 4 inches high. Long arms offer more flexibility and a smoother ride over rough terrain.

Again, don’t cheap out on the lift. You’re upgrading your suspension, the part of the jeep that affects the handling and control. So, take your time, do research, see what people are saying in forums, and make sure you buy a quality brand that puts out durable lift kits in your price range.

As in most cases, you get what you pay for. So, is it worth it to cheap out and have to replace the kit down the road or spend a little extra and have peace of mind?

Lockers

Maybe this should have been one of the first mods listed because of the incredible increase in capability they offer. Though you might want to wait to get lockers because they aren’t cheap. And if you’re going to upgrade your axles to handle the force of a larger tire, there’s no point in paying for them twice.

They're located in the differential and essentially make your axle one, meaning both tires will turn at the same time, whereas without a locker the diff is considered open, meaning if one tire is off the ground it will spin in the air because the power goes to the tire with the least resistance. If you have locking diffs in front and rear when in 4x4, all four tires get power, meaning if only one tire is getting traction you can move.

Without lockers, the driver must gain experience to conquer obstacles. When you're out on the trails you'll notice some drivers are much more capable in less capable trucks. Having all the gear doesn't make you a better driver. That being said there are some obstacles that are simply impossible without lockers.

Axles

As mentioned before, a larger tire will put more pressure on the axle because of its increased leverage due to the larger diameter. So, upgrades are a must and can include replacing the entire axle with a beefier one and/or trussing it, meaning welding brackets on to add extra strength, or just getting Chromoly axle shafts that can handle a bit more pressure. But they have limits too and snap when pushed too far. It depends on what you’re aiming for; the larger the tire the more strength you’ll need.

Lighting

Lights are an especially important mod too. You don’t need to spend a lot or go overboard when buying lights. A super bright light bar is overkill if you’re hitting trails with friends, and you probably won’t use it because it’s blinding to others. Simply upgrading your headlights can be enough to light the trail ahead.

Backup lighting is very important for safety, especially if there are cliffs or drop-offs nearby as you’re trying to manoeuvre. A couple of light pods aiming to the side are helpful when turning down different trails, and if you’re hitting some rocks, rock crawling lights are a must and look really nice when parked.

Conclusion

You’re probably thinking that it sounds expensive and seems overwhelming to do a proper Jeep mod. As I said in the beginning, you don’t have to do it all at once, unless you can afford it then go for it.

But honestly, I find it more fun to take the jeep out and find its limits then improve what you need to conquer the next obstacle. It makes the next upgrade that much more exciting because you get to go test it on the obstacle that held you back, it's the most amazing feeling ever when you beat it!
In the beginning, before you do any mods, you can simply disconnect the sway bars for more articulation. That will help keep all four tires on the ground giving you more capability if you don’t have lockers yet, and your Jeep won't bounce around as much, it will absorb the impacts better smoothing out the ride.

Take your time, do lots of research and have fun. The journey is what it’s all about after all isn’t that what we’re in this lifestyle for?

One last thing I suggest is to try and do all the work yourself then have a licensed mechanic look it over or at least have a full understanding of how to repair anything that might break out there. Always carry the parts that are likely to break like uni joints etc..

I hope you found this article helpful. Just so you know any of the parts listed in this article can be found at Get Lift Kits for the lowest price possible guaranteed. If you have any questions regarding your build our knowledgeable staff will be happy to help you with anything you need.

The Lazy Man's Guide To The Fastest Cars in 2021

While we normally focus on 4x4 offroads, there's a special thrill about really fast cars. Driving a car sometimes is more than just luxury, for some, it’s about speed. Although all cars are fast some more than others Here are some of the fastest cars in 2021.

The battle for who has the most speed is something that will stay till the end of time itself. Whether it's a foot race, a horse race, or a chariot race, every respectable betting site will allow punters to wager on who will win. In Sweden, it's even a sport with great odds because speed fascinates and speed even kills and it may just be a bit more fun than the traditional Volvo. Just ask the late Paul Walker, but the feeling of being fast and trying to mirror some of the action you see in the Fast & Furious movies can sometimes be unmatched.

How fast a car moves on the road depends on several factors including the ability of the driver, but we all know even Sir Lewis Hamilton wouldn’t overtake me if he sat behind the wheel of a 1955 Volkswagen, while I drove in a 2019 Lamborghini Aventador. Here’s a compilation of some of the fastest cars in the world as of 2021.

Koenigsegg Gemera

Whoever said adding two extra seats to a super-fast car would make it slower has probably never driven the Koenigsegg Gemera. Manufactured, by the Swedish automobile giants, the Gemera is the first car produced by Koenigsegg to have a four-seater, and also the first one to be powered by a compact engine. The Gemera has a three-cylinder engine powered by the Koenigsegg Tiny Friendly Giant (TFG), to go along with two turbochargers camless pistons.

The Gemera is a hybrid drivetrain implying it uses electric power and a combustion engine. Its combustion engine just like the traditional cars requires carbon-based fuel and the electric part runs on a rechargeable battery.  The Gemera boasts an acceleration of 0-100 km/h and has claimed a top speed of 400 km/h. The car has an electric range of 50 kilometers and attains a top speed of 300 km/h in electric mode.

Aston Martin Valkyrie

Aston Martin might be new to the world of Formula One joined the sport at the start of 2021 but they’re no strangers to the world of fast cars. Built collaboratively by Aston Martin, Red Bull Advanced Racing Technologies, and others, the Aston Martin Valkyrie is a limited edition hybrid sports car with a steering wheel and an exterior with some resemblance to an F1 car.

The Nebula, which is also a code name for the Aston Martin Valkyrie, has a 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12 engine with a power output of 1,160 horsepower (hp). It has a 7-speed transmission and a single-clutch automated manual. The power-to-weight ratio of the Valkyrie is outstanding, offering more balance with its already incredible top speed of 402 km/h.

Hennessey Venom F5

No, not the popular Hennessy drink but instead a supercar with the capacity of going from 0-60 miles per hour (mph) in 2.3seconds, and a top speed of over 300 mph. The first non-hybrid sports car on our list, the Hennessey Venom F5 was developed by the British Motorsport company of Silverstone, Delta Motorsport, and manufactured by American company Hennessey Special Vehicles. It has a 6.6-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, a 7-speed single-clutch automated manual transmission, and a power output of 1,817 hp.

Only 24 units of the Venom F5 are expected to be produced, and 12 of those have been sold at a whopping price of $1.6 million last December. The remaining 12 units are expected to be sold for $2.1 million, though there are reports eight more cars are planned to be built in 2021.

Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+

Since the French automobile company, Bugatti S.A.S began developing the Bugatti Chiron series in 2016, none have achieved the speed of the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+. This car possesses a power output of 1,578 hp compared to the 1,479 hp of the Chiron Sport and Chiron Pur Sport. Though it was released in 2020, the SuperSport 300+ remains one of the fastest cars in 2021. Its mid-engine, all-wheel-drive chassis layout does justice to its 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which in turn delivers acceleration of 0-60 mph in just 2.3 seconds.

The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ also possesses a top speed of 304 mph, as the name suggests.

Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut

Following the success of the Agera series, Swedish automobile powerhouse, Koenigsegg Automotive released the limited production sports car series, Jesko. These Jeskos are built as high-performance cars for both road and track, with incredible handling to ensure control and safety. The Jesko Absolut is the high-speed version of the entire series, it has a top speed of 330 mph with a reduced downforce of 331 pounds compared to other cars in the Jesko line. The Jesko Absolut has a 5.0-liter V8 engine with a power output of 1,600 Horsepower.

6 Desert Off-Road Modifications That You Can Do Yourself

This is for all those who have some knowledge of engines and motors. Today's SUVs and 4x4 vehicles are not only capable and comfortable but they also go pretty well to cross desert areas, either for necessity or simply for fun. However, not all SUVs are made to go through impervious paths or wild areas... at some point, you see that you need to "adjust" your vehicle to the kind of tracks that you want to explore.

Turn a Stock Cruiser Into An Off-Road Crusher

Cruiser Car 4x4It's not rare for motor passionate to start putting their hands on car engines. In the beginning, someone may be worried you can only do mistakes and destroy that engine, but you know that your passion is taking you over an exciting journey. That's the journey of all those who start even a career as engine modifiers.

So, you want to try yourself to modify your vehicle, so you can go across the desert onboard a great off-road "king". You know, some rally drivers began their career just like that and they are now busy with frequent training for the most famous rally events in the desert like the worldwide renamed Dakar track in Saudi Arabia or the Qatar Cross Country Rally. Probably, your car won't be as perfect as these Rally Cars at the end of your modifications, but it will surely look like them and allow you to really enjoy an off-road drive experience just the way you dream about.

 6 Car Components To Modify

Let's start by learning all about the car components that you should modify to turn your SUV into an off-road vehicle. You will certainly be able to do much of the job yourself, just take a look at how your car still has to be modified:

  1. Tires: These are the basic elements that you need to adjust depending on the type of track that you want to drive along. All you have to do is to look for a purpose-built set of new tires for your car. Make sure the tires you choose have a deep tread for a better grip on mud, snow, sand, and other natural elements you may find on your way.

  2. Add a hitch: Maybe you won't feel it to be a necessary item to add your vehicle, but you never know. If you go driving through the desert with friends and their car is suddenly in need of repair, you can tow it to the nearest mechanic.

  3. Suspensions and bushings: If you are going to drive your off-road cars mostly through impervious tracks, you'll need appropriate suspensions and bushings that can support the vehicle through such hard driving. Make sure to buy suspensions with heavy-duty springs. Also, bushings are needed not only to lift your car but also to strengthen it. Finally, if you can get corrosion-proof bolts, you'll have your money really well-spent.

  4. jeep in the desertSkid plate: When your vehicle is in contact with impervious terrains, having a high-quality skid plate makes all the difference. Consider that the skid plate has to protect your car's radiator, engine, and drivetrain from dangerous rocks that might break these sensible car components.

  5. Bullbar: Off-road vehicles have to go through it, no matter how hard it is. So, prepare your vehicle for this sort of mission by providing it with a new bull bar. It will help you clear the way while driving in the forest while keeping your car's front protected.

  6. Lightbar: Oftentimes, poor lighting may mean quitting a fantastic desert trip. A wind storm may lift tons of sand and make the air practically indistinguishable from the terrain. Get a light bar to be able to drive even through a sand storm. It's a valuable item to add to every off-road car that is destined to drive in the desert.

Rally Events In The Desert

We are pretty sure that sooner or later you'll want to try a real rally experience. If your car is enough well-equipped, you may organize an informal challenge with your friends or follow a rally event in the desert via online live stream channels. Saudi Arabia's desert regions are usually the best locations to set rallies and off-road racing. The popular and most followed Route of Dakar, for example, takes place in the Saudi deserts among canyons, cliffs, sandy dunes passing by the Red Sea coastline.

If the call of the desert has knocked on your door, don't let it go by, follow your passion by betting on your favorite car or taking part in the competition like a pro-off-road car driver.

Enjoy your ride!

What kind of cars is used for an extreme car sports?

Sport car machines can do more than just traveling from one place to another. They offer that extra spark of experience, one that is unforgettable. Just as fantastic as it is to launch a snowmobile, you can actually feel another job that these machines serve. Ultimate car sports have attracted a lot of daredevils, the same zeal in the Spartan race has grown large in all bounds. Every sporting code has its own mad max type of sports car that gives chills to spectators but extremely fun to the rider. Lets us look at different sport codes and their respective sports cars.

cars race1. Ice Racing

A lot of people think that ice racing is just for fun, entertainment, and the thrill that it comes with. However, it is actually a sport not some passing by entertainment. Some countries are known to have a cold front three quarters of the year and it's actually perfect for ice racing. The weather is conducive because ice is always thick enough to guarantee extra enjoyment. Unlike Formula 1 that can actually cut event progress due to ice patches, ice racers shade a huge smile when ice tracks are filled with hard ice. Perfect for racing!

Remember, the track is pure ice and the car should fit in well with the slippery base. It's still okay to use four-wheeled cars when ice racing. In fact, most rides are okay depending on the racecourse. Not to worry about tire choice because any car with grip will do the trick. If you prefer just watching from a distance, then you can watch a couple of racing movies that are available at streaming sites.

2. Motocross

This is the best way to ride your bicycle among a host of other fantastic racers. Much more fun during a rainy season, getting patted with raindrops as you make your way through the wide tarred road or that rugged terrain. Going at 50 miles per hour, which is equivalent to 80kph, still remains one of the best experiences when riding a bicycle.

Making your way through the dirt is fun because the mechanism of cycles is perfectly made to fit such terrains. Some of the prominent sites perfect for racing are sloppy hills and meandering curving roads that give that extra zeal and zest. It's really boring to ride on an actual road, where you get scorched by the sun, but the fun becomes exceptional when you get through some bits of nature here and there. A motorcycle is cheap but how you ride it remains optional. Riding preferences determine injury frequencies but they are not that common really because of the protective gear you will be wearing.

4X4 races3. Rally Racing

Are you that mad max type of a racer? Do you love to race in the woods, passing through those splashy dirty outlands?  If you adore that, this is the race for you. If you haven't tried Rally Racing, it's high time you start to do so. The fun part is that racing cars are actually custom-made to suit the terrain you are going to ride at. This is one advantage that stands above the rest.

Rally racing is a type of car sporting; many cars of different shapes and framing designs and features, come to the spotlight, which is a great way to gear up for extra fun and a gritty experience. Speed talks loud in rally racing, make sure that the car has enough nitrous to speed off in spectacular fashion.

The thrill comes when the race features different racecourses, a bit of tar, a bit of thick woods, some beach ride through the sand, and a ride to the mountains or rugged terrain. That shift from one feature to another makes rally racing fantastic. You should look forward to Rally America, a race like no other where racing expendables gather to show off their racing grit.

4. Demolition Derby

There is nothing fun in hearing the word 'demolition' in the street but when it comes to Demolition Derby, wrecking becomes the order of the day. Fantastic in all its dimensions! Just like Death Race, every car must destroy, demolish and wreck other competitors to remain an outstanding winner. Ramming and sheer grit are expected from riders.

Everything on a car should be strong, from the engine to the wheel structure, framing, and suspension. It's hell on the racecourse, a glimpse into how savage other cars might be. It's a derby not to be forgotten.
Drag Racing

Motorsports wouldn't be the same without drag racing. Every bit and piece of feature is exaggerated, making it an expandable type of race. With set timing, the race is organized well. Horsepower is the ultimate secret to win. How powerful is your car? Is it able to reach 330 miles per hour or 531 kilometers per hour?

Radically Modified 1994 AM General M998 A1

Walter Carter is born and raised challenging the rocky desert hills of Arizona. He has always and forever wanted a machine that will be capable of traveling farther AND get him back home safely. He's not so much of a "trail quail" and prefers real, goal oriented expeditions.

You are definitely going hard core with your build and this is certainly no mall crawler!
How do you approach your offroading addiction and love for 4x4 trucks?

If, after crossing the deserts, I come to a water barrier, rock escarpment, mesquite thicket or any other challenge, I don't want to have to turn back because my vehicle is not up to the task.

After building many trucks, jeeps, strip-downs, sand rails, etc. I took advantage of the online auctions and bought several military HMMWVs. They were great machines but my apatite for travelling farther was not gratified. After 1400 hours of modification, along with over $50,000 in parts and materials, I've turned one of the HMMWVs into the best country crossing vehicle I've ever operated.

What modifications have you done for your 4x4 and what are your future plans?
I shortened the wheelbase 24 inches, added rear steering, swapped the 242 transfer case for an NP205 converted to dual shift, added full carriage Eaton Detroit Lockers to both differentials, added an on-board compressor for tire air and gear case pressure regulation, all steel body, perforated steel belly pans, fenders that turn with the wheels and have LED trail lights mounted to them, LED headlights putting out 22.5K lumens, vinyl convertible top, lay down windshield, GPS speedometer, tachometer, dual plain inclinometer, water proof switches, gauges, LED lights and wiring, 16 inch Flex-A-Lite variable speed fan, V340BT JVC stereo with 10 inch kickers, 1400 watt inverter, YAESU FT-7900R/E dual frequency transceiver, comet antennas, spare tire loading winch, backup camera, jerry-can holders, etc.

Next I would like to upgrade the suspension to airbags, add a winch and possibly a tow hitch.

Wow - I'm impressed!
Did you have any challenges lifting your 4x4 truck?

Because I built my own platform I have no challenges to lifting my machine.

Where do you go wheeling and what is the terrain like?

I like travelling the Saw Tooth Mountains South of Casa Grande, The Chiricahua Mountains Southeast of Tucson, the Pinal Mountains near Globe and the Superstition Mountains East of Phoenix. All these locations have sand, rock obstacles, water bodies and trees/vegetation/cactus. Finding abandoned mine operations, ghost towns, stage stops and railroad beds/bridges that are abandoned are the most fun I can have off road.

Tell us about an interesting experience you had on the trail!
Driving a sand rail towards the South entrance of box canyon in the mid 80's I was caught in a thick hail storm mixed with freezing rain. Being completely unprepared for the weather. I started to pass a miners settlement on the edge of a creek bed and was hailed by two men on the front porch. Their lodgings looked much more livable than the machine I was in and I accepted their invitation to enter. On the wood stove in their quarters they had a large, steaming coffee pot and they offered me cup.

Even though I wasn't a coffee drinker my uncontrolled trembling prompted me to accept. One of miners stepped to the stove, poured some water from a jar into the already boiling pot and dumped about a half a coffee cup of fresh grounds directly to the water. About 5 minutes later the miner poured me a cup of coffee that looked more like a thick syrup and placed it on the table in front of me. Not surprisingly the hot steel cup felt good in my hands but what did surprise me was how really good that syrup tasted and how it warmed me clean through in no time at all. Turns out they called that "cowboy coffee" and it made a coffee drinker of me.

Other info you would like to share
Because my vehicle is so radically different it is a real show stopper. I would enjoy an opportunity to share photos of it with other enthusiasts.

I included only one picture with the top down but none with the cargo rack attached. Also, under the flaming skull is perforated steel. The skull cutout is easily removed by removing four bolts and a broad louvered grill, for maximum air flow, can be bolted in it's place. I built the entire thing in the one car garage the pictures were taken in front of. Also, I did everything but upholster the seats.

The 4 Greatest Off-Road Cars To Drive In UAE's Desert

If you are going to spend a vacation in UAE or you just want to enjoy a special getaway trip to the wonderful desert in this region, make sure to include an off-road adventure in your vacation package. Usually, the immensely hot and wild desert areas in Saudi Arabia as well as in other regions in the Middle East and North Africa are the best locations where you may want to discover the magic of solitary and breath-taking off-roading.

Looking For A Vehicle? Get One Of These Cars!

SUVs and all types of 4x4 cars are the ideal vehicles to rent for an authentic off-road experience. These vehicles are actually the best not only for their high-level drive performance in the desert or rocky regions but also for the many accessories that make your driving experience more comfortable and pleasant.

So, either you want to buy a car to drive in the desert for unforgettable off-roading or you want to rent one for a day, we warmly suggest you take a look at the following vehicles:

  1. Toyota Land Cruiser
Toyota is one of the most popular and historically relevant car brands when it comes to off-road vehicles. The high-level driving performance the new Land Cruiser can give you is something hard to describe. You just have to try it yourself! Consider that there is more than one reason why Toyota Land Cruiser is one of the preferred vehicles for desert off-roading by passionate Arabs and Dubai's adventure companies. If you are looking for comfort even in the hardest track condition, this is your best solution.

  2. Jeep Wrangler
This is another very popular name in the automotive industry, especially for the SUV and 4x4 categories. If you need a trustworthy vehicle to cross the hardest of the deserts, this is what you really need to drive. The interiors are entirely washable and waterproof, which makes this vehicle perfect for families with children and pets. Jeep Wrangler is actually a good investment for off-road driving as well as for Monday-to-Friday city use.

  3. Nissan Patrol
Nissan is another Japanese car brand that can boast a pretty reputable name in the 4x4 category of cars. The Patrol model is not only very large but it comes also with advanced options. It's the best car to organize an off-road adventure with your family or a group of friends. Along with the previous car, Nissan Patrol is particularly appreciated by Arabs for its engine's power and interior's comfort.

  4. Mercedes G-Wagon
This car model has been specially designed by Mercedes for extreme driving. One of the most remarkable safety features of this car is that you can shift between low and high ratios without having to stop completely, which turns out to help a lot when driving across sandy dunes or swampy trails.

Also, consider that buying a 4x4 car today is much more affordable than it used to be in past times. The automotive market is evolving and the prices for these great off-road cars are becoming closer to the average buyers.

What To Do In Dubai, UAE.

If you go to Dubai for an off-road car driving experience, don't forget to spend your time in the city center or near places. There's actually so much to see and do. Your vacation or trip plan must absolutely include one of the following ideas: for example, you may like visiting Burj Al Arab, one of the most unique hotels in the entire Middle East. To make sure you can visit it, you have to make a reservation for a drink or a day on the infinity pool terrace. No matter what, a day at the Burj Al Arab hotel is going to be a unique dreamy experience.

For those who love nature, a visit to Palm Jumeirah turns out to be an epic addition to any trip. Palm Jumeirah is an artificial archipelago that will have you think "it's just incredible this place exists on earth!" all the time.

Finally, don't forget to join one of the thrilling rally races in Dubai. The city is one of the main centers in the world for great rally race events and championships. You can also follow the event online and do what most Arab followers like to do: placing bets in real money on cars during a rally race is probably one of the most exciting things you may do. Check casino 365 online to choose a sports venue online for live stream and place bets in real-time, it will add extra emotions to your vacation in Dubai.

Mitsubishi Montero 3.2 DID - 2006

Bernd Schmidt is an off-road fan who learned about 4x4s and offroading in the Chilean sand dunes. He lives in Santiago de Chile, married w 2 girls and all of them love to travel, explore, learn about different places out of the common routes.

What modifications have you done for your 4x4 and what are your future plans?
Suspension lift with coil-over, ECU re flash, roof rack led bars, rear locker (my version came without) snorkel, 285/79/17 BF Goodrich KO II tires, 17” wheels w -12 offset and some other stuff

Next after money - what's most challenging when lifting your 4x4 truck?
Because of the nature of my front suspension getting 2” or more becomes complex.

Where do you go wheeling and what is the terrain like?
I love sand dunes, Chile has a lot, 1.5 hours from home is Ritoque a nice spot and more to the north we have the driest dessert in the world.

Tell us about an interesting experience you had on the trail!
A lot, but the best is the share with others, everyone get in and all come out, that team spirit is unique.

Formula Offroad - Akranes two days of racing!

Exciting courses, a lot of struggle and fantastic driving characterized the Formula Offroad races held in Akranes over the weekend of July 21.-22. 2018.

On Saturday the unbelievable happened when Ingólfur Guðvarðarson and Atli Jamil Ásgeirsson ended at the top and with the same exact number of points in the Unlimited category, 1650 points. This is also the first time Ingólfur gets gold in a Formula Offroad competition!

Right on their heels came the newcomer Kristján Finnur Sæmundsson.

Even more amazing was that the same happened in the Street legal category when Steingrímur Bjarnason and Ívar Guðmundsson ended up at the top and equal with 1500 points.

On Sunday the first victory of Haukur Viðar Einarsson, who performed great all day in the Unlimited category was the first place winner. Geir Evert and Thor Thormar came shortly thereafter. Geir Evert, most likely with one of the best stunts of the weekend in the sixth track with amazing highway flight and a fun spin.

Steingrímur Bjarnason won in the Street legal category again and got most points over the weekend that secured him the trophy "Skagabikarinn".

There is a lot of excitement between the top teams in the Icelandic Championships in both classes and it is clear that the final standings will not be clear until the final race at August 18. at Akureyri.
