The third Formula Off Road Icelandic Championship 2008 is at Blonduos in the north-west part of Iceland. The weather is much better than last year with less wind and therefore less dust.

Hlynur B. Sigurdsson is competing in the Street Legal Class. The Toyota Hilux looks good but it lacks more power to compete against the 8 cylinders the others use.

Haukur Thorvaldsson on his Silver Power in the same class has more power.

Haukur ends in fourth place.

Benedikt Sigfússon in "Hlunkurinn" in the Modified Street Class.

Benedikt gets third place.

Bjarki Reynisson in the Animal.

Bjarki had problems keeping the Animal from rolling...

Bjarki going through the end gate.
Looks a bit worrying - how will this end?

...An easy roll and not much harm done.

Daniel G. Ingimundarson allowed his wife Maria Antonia Jonasdottir and Gudmundur Max Jonsson, a friend, to have their day of competing.

They ended up in 7th and 8th place in the Unlimited Class.

Maria didn't spare the Green Thunder and takes a BIG roll after this flight attempt through the end gate of the last track.

Ragnar Robertsson loaned his N1 Willys to Vignir Runar Vignisson.

Vignir ends in 4th place in the Modified Street Class.

Leo Vidar Bjornsson in his Iron Maiden.

Helgi Gunnarsson driving his Polar Bear.

Helgi ends in 6th place.

Sigurdur Thor Jonsson in the Troll.

More jumps...

...lands Sigurdur Thor in third place in the Unlimited Class

Olafur Bragi Jonsson in the Fox doing a stunning jump through an endgate. He is competing in the Unlimited Class.

Olafur had the most amazing roll in one of the tracks that ended in this strange position!

In the last track, Olafur has the most spectacular jump. He has to be 4-5 meters (~15 ft) up in the air. Olafur lands safely on all four wheels but only gets fourth place.

I really enjoy seeing real 4WD
vehicles in real situations where they are needed. There
are so many highway bound posers that never go off the
pavement here that seeing life or death 4 wheeling in
Iceland is really refreshing.
