The first round in the World Cup also serves as the first in the Icelandic Championship in Formula Off Road. The race takes place at Hella in south Iceland. It is a beautiful day with clear skies and not too much wind.

A fully modified Durango is on the scene, sporting 44 inch Dick Cepec tires. The logo now reads DRAGON!
A total of 8 tracks that will be driven in each class. The first five are up and down some steep sandbanks the next two are timed courses with the river as the second one and the last track is the mud!

lafur Bragi Jnsson on the Fox show some extreme confidence.

Daniel G. Ingimundarson on the Green Thunder. He seems to be struggling today.

Even though this looks promising, Hafsteinn Thorvaldsson on Coke Zero is just about to flip over as he flies over the end gate. Moments later his truck has rolled down the slope.

Jn Ingileifsson on the Musso passing the end gate on the first track.

Le Vidar Bjrnsson takes his IronMaiden through the endgate of the first track.

Sigurdur Thor Jnsson shows a lot more when he and his Troll fly through.

Gisli Gunnar Jonsson on the Steroid has just installed a new engine last night! This is a big block replacing the former small block Chevy and somehow it doesn't seem to perform the same.

Not the first slope that Olafur's Fox conquer.

Daniel's Green Thunder is perhaps the only truck with ads on the bottom... and seems to be showing it a lot!

Gunnar Gunnarsson on the Clown is right there among the top drivers today. He ends up in third place.

Roar Johansen took his Thunderbolt all the way from Norway. He ends up in 8th place overall.

Gisli Gunnar Jonsson.

After a few trucks had rolled over in 5th track, Ragnar Robersson takes his N1 Willys a completely different route up, bypassing the steepest part.

Hlynur on his Toyota Hilux.

Hannes Berg on his CJ Willys.

Steingrimur on his Willys finishes third.

Steingrimur is the first one to roll a street legal truck. He takes it like a man and crawls out unharmed.

Hannes Berg taking his his CJ Willys on the river.

Haukur in the mud driving his Willys through a similar track as the modified trucks go.

I really enjoy seeing real 4WD
vehicles in real situations where they are needed. There
are so many highway bound posers that never go off the
pavement here that seeing life or death 4 wheeling in
Iceland is really refreshing.
