Off Road Wheels for the Off Roads

Off Road Wheels

Off Road Wheels

Off road wheels come in many shapes and sizes. You can only use wheels with the correct lug nut pattern as well as offset.

For airing down or when using 44 inch tires or bigger a bead lock system to hold the tire in place is recommended.

Off Road Wheel Size and Type

Choose the wheel after you have selected the proper off road tire.

Alloy wheels Have definite weight advantage but are more expensive. The reduced weight gives better mileage and less strain on the bearings and other parts. Alloy wheels can break if they get a hit from a rock and that can be difficult to fix in the wilderness.  Steel wheels The steel wheels are usually more practical in the off-roads since they will not break so easily.

Try to stick to the 15" high wheels if they are available for your truck.

If you are planning on airing down I would suggest you consider adding another valve beside the usual one. Take the valve core out of the new valve and use the other for measuring pressure.

This should give you some ideas about which 4x4 wheels and tires to use!

4x4 Wheels and Tire Package
Having two sets of tires and wheels has certain advantages. In the winter time you might want to use tires with spikes to make them less slippery during icy conditions on or off road. During summer such tires are usually not allowed and generally don't provide better grip.

4x4 wheels and tires manufacturers that I recommend.
